Service Interruptions
General service interruptions
Service interruptions may include scheduled water main flushing's, planned or emergency construction for repairs, or new development for on-going capital improvement projects and related construction updates. To report a water service related emergency in your area call 253-941-1516.
POTENTIAL WATER DISRUPTION - HYDRANT TESTING
Lakehaven is doing water flow testing on fire hydrants throughout the entire district. (Map displayed to the Right) When operating these fire hydrants, we may potentially stir up mineral sediment in our wells. This iron and manganese mineral sediment is not harmful to you; but it may discolor your water. You may notice red, orange, or brown water in your faucets during the hydrant tests. If you notice this discolored water – please do the following. Stop using your hot water while discolored water is present (even if you only notice it when you run your cold water). Do not do laundry when discolored water is present as the mineral iron can stain clothing. After 3PM run your cold water in all your faucets for 5-10 minutes until it starts to run clear (do not run longer than 10 minutes). If this does not clear up your discolored water – please call 253-941-1516 to report a water quality emergency. Once your water is running clear, please resume normal use. For non urgent questions related to this maintenance email waterquality@lakehaven.org (this email is NOT MONITORED outside business hours, please do not send an email for a water quality emergency).
Known issues will be posted as a Water Quality Alert at the banner at the top of the page in real time as known on the day maintenance is occurring for each hydrant.
WATER MAIN FLUSHINGS
Lakehaven schedules routine maintenance to help maintain water quality and identify potential vulnerabilities.
Lakehaven Water and Sewer District aka The District, routinely schedules water main flushing in your area . This is done as part of a scheduled preventative maintenance program to help maintain good water quality and to identify valves and fire hydrants that may need repair in your neighborhood.
Signs will be placed on street corners the Friday before flushing begins in your neighborhood and will remain posted during our water main flushing activity. Flushing hours are typically 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday. To find more specific daily maps, please see the Current Flushing Work Area links below. These are updated on Fridays with the following week's schedule. Neighborhood maps are updated every Friday for the following week's flushing schedule.
On the day that Lakehaven Water & Sewer District is flushing water mains in your area, you may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure. Your water service will not be shut off during main flushing. You may see some harmless mineral sediment or discolored water when using your cold water both during and shortly after main cleaning. These conditions are temporary and normal during flushing activities and should clear up quickly. On the day our crew is flushing, we recommend you refrain from washing laundry or using hot water from the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you should experience any discolored water we recommend you flush the pipes of your home or business by opening an outside hose bib to irrigate your lawn for five minutes or run your COLD water taps inside your house for five minutes.
We regret any inconvenience the flushing might cause you. If you have further questions or if you experience any persistent water quality problems as a result of this maintenance program, please do not hesitate to email waterquality@lakehaven.org or call the Program Analyst at 253-945-1614 or the Water Operations Supervisor at 253-946-5411 during normal business hours 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. M-F. Urgent calls after 4 p.m. or on weekends should be made to the Lakehaven Water & Sewer District On-Call phone line at 253-941-1516.
